[size=45]Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport confirmed that the government has a serious desire to expand the railway network with all neighboring countries.[/size]
[size=45]The Director General of the General Railways Company, Talib Jawad Al-Husseini, said in an interview reported by the Iraqi News Agency, that "Iraq has been in contact with the Iranian side regarding technical matters for the railway connection for years," indicating that "the Basra Shalamjah line is 32 kilometers long from the Iraqi-Iranian border to Basra ”.[/size]
[size=45]He added, "After laying the foundation stone for the large FAO project, serious discussions will begin to implement the Basra - Shalamjah railway project."[/size]
[size=45]He pointed out that "the last stages have reached defining the starting point with regard to the rail link," indicating that "the ministry is proceeding with the technical and professional aspects in an advanced way and is awaiting sovereign decisions as it is an international line and part of the Silk Road system."[/size]
