    Initiative announced the Extractive Industries Transparency that Iraq was "the first state" from the region joined the initiative and promised that as a good indicator of the government's keenness to fight corruption

    The secretary general of the initiative of transparency in the extractive industries in Iraq, Alaa Mohiuddin during a press statement on the occasion of the issuance of the third report of the initiative and seen by Agency for News News (et) The initiative of transparency in extractive industries, announced in Johannesburg, South Africa in September 2002 which is about an international protocol obliges states signed by the adoption of measures of accurate global in trading revenues national wealth extracted from the earth such as minerals, oil and gas, explaining that obligation includes advertising for revenue and compliance with the reporting official payments issued by the government and extractive companies and civil society, and this efficiency and transparency will ensure circulation of wealth away from the corruption and waste .

    He said Mohiuddin that international organizations unanimously considered joining a country to this initiative, a clear indication of its desire to fight corruption and reduce theft of public money, pointing out that the most important benefits of the initiative is to ensure that the use of a larger portion of the revenue generated by oil revenues and mineral resources for the benefit of the people , also contribute to the strengthening of oversight and accountability to the general budget of the state as well as strengthening the position of states at the signing of international treaties and conventions and access to loans and debt relief.
    And the Secretary-General of the Transparency Initiative to Iraq the first country from the region joined the initiative, returned it as "a good indicator of the government's keenness to fight corruption.
