{Local: Al Furat News} A source in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said that the ministry is waiting to vote on the retirement and social security law inside the parliament.
The source told {Euphrates News} that the ministry "is now waiting for the new retirement and social security law, after the second reading of it in Parliament."
He added that "the law is very important and has great advantages in providing job opportunities and supporting the private sector," noting that "the law was enacted in 1971 and has not been amended so far."
He pointed out that "inspection tours and visits were conducted to all private companies and institutions to implement the labor law, especially the paragraphs related to the employment of 50 percent of the national workforce."
And he indicated that "in the past, those covered by the law were about 250,000, now the number has become about 600,000 within one year," noting that "the last period was carrying minor amendments between the ministry, the department and the parliamentary committee that were made."
