A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a copy of which was received by Al-Furat News, stated that "this came during his meeting with the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the head of the International Investigation Team for Accountability for the Crimes of the Terrorist Organization (UNITAD) Christian Richar."
He added, "During the meeting, a review of the tasks entrusted to the international team to support local efforts aimed at holding ISIS terrorist organization accountable."
During the meeting, the minister affirmed "support for the mission of the international team in order to achieve the goal of its formation under UN Security Council Resolution 2379 of 2017, and to fulfill its mandate entrusted to it based on the team's competencies, in full respect of Iraq's sovereignty and jurisdiction over crimes committed in its territory." .
For his part, Richard indicated that "the international team continues to intensify communication and coordination with the competent Iraqi authorities to implement its programs, represented in supporting local authorities to hold the terrorist organization ISIS accountable, capacity-building and the use of advanced technology in preserving evidence and archiving," praising "the efforts made by the Iraqi side in Facilitate the tasks of the international team.
