{Economic: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Agriculture revealed today, Saturday, its plan to develop the agricultural sector in the coming days, stressing that it includes 5.5 million acres.
Ministry spokesman Hamid Al-Nayef told {Euphrates News}, "Today we have an agricultural plan that includes 2.5 million dunams that depend on irrigation, and we have 3 million dunams that depend on artesian wells."
He added, "We are continuing to develop the agricultural sector and increase the crops of the agricultural calendar, which includes local crops, many of which are available locally."
And he indicated that "the ministry has a plan to increase the wheat crop as well and to stand on self-sufficiency. During the past two years, we were able to achieve sufficiency in wheat despite the drought. Our goal is to maintain food security."
