The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan confirmed, on Wednesday, that going to the opposition is possible.
Party MP Suzan Mansour told the official news agency, "The only candidate for the National Union so far is Barham Salih, and we have no other."
And she added, "This decision should not affect the union with regard to choosing positions within the Kurdistan region."
She pointed out that "the National Union's approach to the opposition is not mandatory, but it is very possible."
The Presidency of Parliament announced, last Tuesday, the opening of the nomination for the post of President of the Republic.
A document of the Presidency of the Parliament, a copy of which was received by Mawazine News, stated that “in view of the expiry of the constitutional period specified for electing the President of the Republic under Article (72/Second, B) of the Constitution without his election, and based on the provisions of the Nomination Law for the Position of President of the Republic No. (8) of 2012, The presidency of the Council decided to open the door for candidacy for the position of President of the Republic, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, corresponding to the ninth of February this year, adding that “the nomination will continue for a period of 3 days.” Ended 29/R77
