An informed political source said, on Saturday, that Jaafar al-Sadr has not "so far" refused to take up the post of prime minister.
And the source said, "The news that talked about Jaafar al-Sadr's refusal to take over as prime minister during the next stage is incorrect."
He added that "Jaafar al-Sadr has not yet issued or informed any party or entity of his position to head the new government," noting that "Jaafar al-Sadr is in contact with the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr on the issue."
The source indicated that "the coming hours may witness the announcement of an official position by Jaafar al-Sadr regarding the presentation of his name to the prime minister."
