    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

Despite the expenditures and works required to import Qatari gas to Iraq that may last for more than a year, what will be imported initially is equivalent to only 6% of Iraq's need or what is imported from Iran.
The Ministry of Electricity considered that Qatari gas is a complement and not a substitute for Iranian gas that is imported to operate power plants.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Moussa said, "The import of gas from the Qatari side will be to fill part of the shortfall in importing Iranian gas, as Iraq will initially import one and a half million tons of Qatari gas throughout the initial contract period."
And he indicated that "the quantity that will be imported does not cover the actual need to generate electric power, but rather fills part of it," stressing that "the ministry and the government are seeking to diversify gas sources in order that electricity production does not stop in the event that Iranian gas payments stop."
The 1.5 million tons of gas is about 4.5 million cubic meters, which is equivalent to about 9% of what Iraq imports from Iran and needs daily to operate its electrical stations.

Moussa explained that "importing Qatari gas requires the provision of infrastructure and strategy and the establishment of gas platforms and pipelines to transport it to electrical stations, and this effort calls for mobilizing the ministries of transport, oil and finance, in addition to electricity, in order to accomplish and supply Qatari gas to Iraq."
He pointed out that "the period of completion of the project to import Qatari gas ranges from 12-15 months, and Iraq is still in the stage of understanding and has not yet reached the stage of signing the contract to import Qatari gas."
On February 23, the Iraqi Oil Minister, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar, announced a preliminary discussion to supply 1.5 million tons of Qatari gas and prepare delivery facilities to support the electricity system with the gas it needs.
