Today, Thursday, the Basra Investment Authority announced obtaining approvals to establish the economic city and determine its location and the area on which it will be built.
The head of the authority, Alaa Abdul-Hussein, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Basra Economic City for logistical and economic services will be located in the south of Basra Governorate in the area affiliated with Al-Zubayr district, near Khor Al-Zubayr, that is, within the northern Al-Najm and Al-Najm regions, and it will be established on an area of 1,000 dunams".
He added, "The authority's work plan for the current year will focus on the industrial sector, due to the geographical and economic location of Basra Governorate."
And he continued, "The procedures for establishing the economic city are under implementation, as we obtained several approvals and in full coordination with the local government in Basra Governorate to implement the largest economic city in Basra, which will include, in addition to economic factories and factories, it will include the establishment of a factory for the production of hydrochloric acid, which has An active and essential role in extracting crude oil and raising the production capacity of oil wells, in addition to the largest iron and steel plant.
