Al-Kazemi from Jeddah: The relationship with Saudi Arabia is developing greatly
Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said on Saturday that the relationship with Saudi Arabia is "developing significantly", stressing at the same time Iraq's support for the Palestinian cause, while making it clear that his participation in the Jeddah summit to emphasize Baghdad's important role in the region.
Al-Kazemi said, in an interview with Al-Arabiya TV, after his arrival in Jeddah, that "the relationship with Saudi Arabia is at its best and is developing greatly," stressing that "there are many common things between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and the electrical connection was signed with the Kingdom and the Gulf, and this It is an important development."
Al-Kazemi indicated that he is participating in the Jeddah summit "to emphasize the important role of Iraq in the region" and will discuss "many files, especially the economy."
On another matter, Al-Kazemi said that Iraq "emphasizes support for the Palestinian cause... and it will not be in any axis in the region against another axis," noting that "Iraq's relations with the Arabs and neighboring countries are at their best."
On the relations between Tehran and Washington, Al-Kazemi said that the US-Iranian dialogue "will have positive results for the region," noting that "Iraq seeks to open the door to dialogue."
The Iraqi prime minister stressed that he was looking forward to "wider relations with Washington," and stressed that Baghdad would coordinate "with all countries to fight terrorism."
The Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, met in Jeddah yesterday, Friday, with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi.
During the meeting, "the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and promising opportunities for cooperation were reviewed, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional issues."
On the sidelines of the Jeddah Security and Development Summit hosted by the Kingdom, the GCC Electricity Interconnection Authority and the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity signed the linkage contract between the Gulf Interconnection Network and the Southern Iraq Electricity Network, in the presence of Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman and Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar.
Abdulaziz bin Salman and Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar also signed the executive minutes on the principles of the electrical interconnection agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, in implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides at the beginning of 2022.
