Shafaq News/ The Iraqi parliament member, Ahmed Taha Al-Rubaie, considered today, Thursday, that the retirees in Basra, the far south of the country, are facing a "crime" against them, and while he stressed the need to resort to the judiciary to recover their rights, he warned against the continued procrastination of the file and its failure to resolve it in the coming days.
Al-Rubaie told Shafaq News Agency, "The problem of retirees in the education of Basra and the General Company for Petrochemical Industries in the province represents a disgrace on the forehead of the caretaker government," noting that "the retirees from these two departments ended their services legally and fundamentally, and were referred to retirement from their departments and ministries. For periods ranging from months to two years, their pension transactions have not been promoted, based on the decision of the head of the National Retirement Authority, Iyad al-Jubouri, not to promote it until the pension suspensions, debts or other matters owed by these departments are paid.
And the representative of Basra added, “Attributing the responsibility of the simple elderly employee, who is over six decades old, to mistakes, consequences, negligence, or any administrative problem, is a low and humiliating method and a crime against him,” noting that “the retired employee is not guilty of being used as a hostage in A deplorable method that cannot be accepted by all legal, moral, clan and social standards.
Al-Rubaie explained, "In the event of a negligence of a government institution, legal measures can be taken through the judiciary, which separates government institutions to restore rights. We are with the accountability of the negligent and the transgressor of public money and others. This is rejected."
The MP pointed out that “calls have been made since last January to the Prime Minister, the Ministries of Education and Industry, and the National Pension Agency, but we did not find a listening ear. Recently, appeals were made to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and we asked him for personal and direct intervention in this file, as well as communication with his office, and they promised us good.
Al-Rubaie concluded his speech by saying: “If the file is not resolved during these days, and the procrastination continues, the people of Basra will have a position, because what is happening we consider a racist process towards Basra Governorate.”
