The Border Guard Forces Command held a meeting with its Syrian counterpart regarding fortifying the borders and thwarting any terrorist attempt, while the Commander of the Border Guards, Lieutenant-General Hamid Al-Husseini, affirmed that Iraq has made unremitting efforts to secure the borders with Syria and prevent smuggling operations.
Al-Husseini said in a statement, that the commander of the Syrian border guard visited the headquarters of the border guard, pointing out that during the meeting, they discussed securing the common borders between the two countries, strengthening cooperation to prevent any terrorist attempt and disrupting stable security, and continuing the fortification operations accomplished by the border guard command on the Iraqi side. .
He added that Iraq has made efforts to secure its borders and prevent any smuggling operations between the two countries, noting that the Iraqi borders are safe and stable after the completion of an integrated monitoring system, which includes anti-fences, a concrete wall and thermal monitoring cameras around the clock
