Today, Thursday, the General Company for Iraqi Ports, one of the companies affiliated with the Ministry of Transport, set the date for the completion of the Al-Faw Grand Port projects, including the submerged tunnel, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East, while it announced the inclusion of its financial allocations within the financial budget for the next year 2023.
The Director of Relations and Media said In the company, Anmar Al-Safi, "The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis, visited the port of Faw project and was briefed on the works that have reached the final stages of completion," indicating that "these works are the five berths, containers, and the road linking the port's berths and the submerged tunnel, which extends to 2,400 meters in length." meter".
Al-Safi added, "The tunnel is in the process of being completed and is the first of its kind in the Middle East," noting that "no project of this kind has been constructed under water."
He continued, "Work in this tunnel is underway properly through the Korean Daewoo company and under the supervision and directives of the General Company for Iraqi Ports and by the Italian consultant who designed this tunnel and supervises its construction."
He explained, "All the five projects that were recently signed will be completed at the beginning of the year 2025, according to the timing," indicating, "The Korean company insists on completing these projects at the end of 2024."
He pointed to "the allocation of funds for these projects in the 2023 budget," stressing that "there is governmental and parliamentary interest in this major project."
