Baghdad / Obelisk: The statements issued by the anti-corruption authorities in Iraq are criticized as devoid of mentioning the names of the corrupt and those involved in looting public money, which makes them vague and not of interest to Iraqis who are waiting for corruption files to be revealed and those involved exposed, in order to be an example.
The Integrity Commission has been publishing data indicating the involvement of ministers, deputies, directors, and officials in large corruption files, but these reports did not specify the name of the person involved, using loose expressions, such as a former minister, a former general manager, a former governor, and so on.
Including data indicating the issuance of recruitment orders for members of the House of Representatives for the current and previous sessions on charges of bribery, but without mentioning the names of those involved.
And if the official institutions, due to legal justifications, then the Iraqi citizen, does not understand this, considering that such measures are tantamount to leniency with the corrupt.
The Kurdish representative, Sarwa Abdel Wahed, said on Twitter, that when the Integrity Commission publishes news about corruption, it is supposed to name the corrupt by their names, and if it is inaccurate, there is no need to mention the adjective without the name, adding: The representative who took the bribe is supposed to disclose his name, otherwise all members of parliament They have a question mark now.
Mentioning the names of the corrupt is of great importance to the citizen who wants to have black lists of them so that people refrain from dealing with them.
Question marks were also placed on the tweet of Representative Mustafa Jabbar Sanad, in which he revealed a file related to theft in the customs secretariats in the ports of Umm Qasr, and said that the file is under the control of the regulatory agencies and the judiciary, but he did not specify the name of the person involved in this file.
The follower of the Iraqi affairs, Sabhan Al-Hussein, considered that most of this news is used for political criticism, otherwise what does recruitment mean?
Activist Sivan Berwari asked on Twitter: Why does the Integrity Commission not complete the legal procedures against the corrupt or those on whom signs of corruption are registered? Why do you not mention the names?
The journalist, Omar Al-Janabi, believes that the Integrity Commission needs integrity to mention the names of the corrupt who issue arrest warrants, indicating that it is unreasonable to mislead public opinion and not mention the name of a criminal involved in stealing public money.
Journalist Jarrah commented on Twitter, saying, Where is the integrity and transparency in revealing a corruption file without mentioning the names of those involved? This is also considered corruption.
According to the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for the year 2022, Iraq ranked seventh among the list of the most corrupt Arab countries, and ranked 157 out of 180 countries.
No official statistics were issued for the number of those accused of corruption during the year 2022, but the report of the Integrity Commission for the year 2021 stated that 11,605 officials, including 54 ministers, were involved in corruption.
Publishing the names of the corrupt achieves the citizen's confidence in the anti-corruption agencies. As for not daring to do so due to certain legal contexts, it encourages the corrupt to continue plundering public money.
