The head of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, sent today, Monday, a lengthy message to the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, while indicating that the first reform steps are to amend the election law.

Allawi said in his message: "The Iraqi people have lost confidence in the political process, and the protests and reluctance to participate in the elections are only evidence of a loss of confidence."

And he continued: "The election law must be reviewed, and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] should be one constituency, or each province be one constituency, in addition to the need to change the Electoral Commission after each election and its field formations in the constituency."

According to Allawi, "to ensure transparency, it is necessary to prevent the use of corruption funds to finance some, as well as prevent interference of external influence in the elections and enact clear laws to prevent them from relying on the government to support the political blocs financially, equally and according to the number of their members."

And he stressed that "the qualifications of the candidates are good, and that their presence is reflected at the entire national level," pointing out that "the counting and sorting is done manually, and the results are announced after the closing of the polls on the same day."
