Today, Saturday, the head of the Border Crossings Authority, Omar Al-Waeli, clarified the authority's procedures against smugglers of alcoholic beverages and prohibited substances to Iraq, while affirming its commitment to the decisions issued by the Council of Ministers and Parliament.
Al-Waeli said, "The authority is committed to the decisions issued by the Iraqi government and the House of Representatives regarding the ports," noting that "all procedures will be circulated to the border crossings to prevent the entry of prohibited materials."
With regard to alcoholic beverages, Al-Waeli stressed that "from the first day of the circular's arrival, it will be implemented, and in the event that some smugglers of alcoholic beverages are arrested, legal measures will be taken against them and referred to the judiciary."
He added, "Any person who introduces any prohibited substance, whether it is alcoholic beverages or others, will enforce the law against him."
