    Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: A member of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives, Jamal Cougar, said, on Monday, that Finance Minister Taif Sami informed them that they would compensate the Kurdistan Region for the period during which its oil exports stopped based on a complaint by the Iraqi federal government, according to Rudaw Agency.
    Cougar said in a statement, followed by the obelisk: The Iraqi Finance Minister, Taif Sami, informed us that they will compensate the Kurdistan Region for its lost revenues during the period of stopping its oil exports, based on the Iraqi federal government’s complaint, in proportion to the Kurdistan Region’s share of the federal general budget, and this compensation does not include the first months. From the year 2023.
    He added that the Minister of Finance indicated that compensation for the Kurdistan Region for its losses as a result of stopping its oil exports will take place after the approval of the general budget law.
    And the Parliament's Finance Committee met last night with the Iraqi Finance Minister, Taif Sami, to discuss the ministries' observations on the Iraqi federal budget draft law.
    The region and Iraq lose more than $800 million in revenue per month due to stopping the export of Kurdistan region's oil.
    The share of the region specified in the Iraqi federal general budget draft law exceeds 16 trillion dinars, or about 1.3 trillion dinars per month. If the federal general budget law is approved by the end of May, the federal government will have to pay more than 2.6 trillion dinars as compensation to the Kurdistan region for Stopping the export of its oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
    Under the Iraqi federal budget bill, which covers three years, the region must export 400,000 barrels of oil per day, the revenues of which go to the public treasury, in return for receiving its share of the general budget, amounting to 12.67% of it.
