Baghdad / Obelisk Al-Hadath: The economic and financial advisor to the Prime Minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, revealed proposals to raise salaries for employees.
Saleh told Al-Masalla, “There are two solutions to this issue, the first of which is: reviewing all employees’ salaries, and there will be a salary base that takes into account service and qualifications, as stipulated in the standards of the Service Council.” ))”, stressing that “this procedure can be modified through allocations, and it was previously applied in Iraq during previous decades, which is more fair to employees.”
And many countries faced disparity in salaries and injustice with laws and procedures that achieved justice and prevented the accumulation of wealth in the hands of the upper class of employees.
He continued, “The salary scale of the civil service in Iraq has moved far from the civil service law that was previously linked to it, so many legislations appeared on it and privileges required by the post-2003 stage, including large discrepancies between the highest or lowest salary for the same employee, with the same service and with the same qualifications between A ministry and a ministry,” noting that “the most sensitive aspect is the tenth grades and beyond, for these people have a completely declining standard of living, and it is not commensurate with what some of their peers receive in other ministries or with higher salaries.”

Iraq is classified as one of the countries that lacks an effective and serious system that sets minimum wages or a tax system that puts the wealthy in a greater position to pay taxes.
The economic and financial advisor in the Iraqi government concluded by saying, "Otherwise, we need legislative power, and this legislation needs a great political consensus within the House of Representatives, to reconsider giving a person more than a salary and high salaries," pointing out that "these issues have legislation and cannot be manipulated." Which takes a long time to achieve this agreement.
Saleh said, "The short solution is to give allocations (the cost of living), and this depends on how much money is available in the budget law."
In order to solve the problem of disparity in salaries and inequity, many social, economic and educational measures and policies must be adopted, such as setting minimum wages and regulating laws and regulations to protect the rights of workers and those with fragile incomes, reduce discrimination and increase educational and empowerment opportunities for all groups.
