The Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Jabr Al-Olayawi, confirmed today, Thursday, the agreement to establish a desalination plant in partnership with the Saudi private sector, while he indicated that the Coordinating Council discussed changing irrigation mechanisms and developing the date industry.
The spokesman for the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Haider Majeed, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The most prominent achievement of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council in the agricultural field through the Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Al-Olayawi, is the establishment of a desalination plant in partnership with the Saudi private sector, Investing in Saudi expertise and studying the possibility of establishing a partnership in the field of poultry breeding with Saudi Arabia to meet the need of both countries for chicken mothers.
He added, "The Coordinating Council also included changing irrigation mechanisms through the use of modern networks, exchanging experiences in research cooperation projects in the field of agriculture, developing palm cultivation, and developing the date industry in both countries."
Today, Thursday, the Iraqi-Saudi Coordinating Council launched its fifth session in Jeddah.[/size]
