Today, Monday, Minister of Justice Dr. Khaled Shwani confirmed that Iraq seeks to activate agreements and memorandums of understanding with France.
A statement from the ministry said, "The Minister of Justice received the Chargé d'Affairs at the French Embassy, Jean-Christophe, and his accompanying delegation," noting that "the meeting discussed relations of cooperation and joint coordination in the judicial and legal fields."
The statement added, "The Minister of Justice reviewed the reforms that were carried out during the government's tenure headed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, and in particular the implementation of the National Plan for Human Rights in accordance with international standards."
Dr. Khaled Shwani affirmed, "Iraq's endeavor to strengthen and develop relations with the Republic of France with regard to concluding and activating agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries."
For his part, the Chargé d'Affaires of the French Embassy appreciated "the efforts made by the Ministry of Justice to achieve great strides in the field of applying human rights standards in the judicial departments," stressing "France's support for the Iraqi government through joint cooperation between the two countries."
