Shafaq News/ The fact-finding committee arrived in Kirkuk on Tuesday morning, to investigate the events that the governorate witnessed a few days ago.

The committee is formed by members of the Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi Parliament.

A local source told Shafaq News Agency that the committee members met upon their arrival with the military and security leaders in the Operations Command building in Kirkuk.

Kirkuk witnessed bloody confrontations between demonstrators supporting and others opposing the handover of the headquarters of the joint operations command of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party occupied this headquarters between 2014 and 2017, during the period when ISIS controlled large parts of northern Iraq.
The Iraqi government imposed security measures to calm tensions in Kirkuk, while the Iraqi Federal Court suspended the decision to hand over the security headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
