    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani hosted, this evening, Saturday (October 14, 2023), an emergency meeting of the Coordination Framework Forces, during which the current developments in the occupied Palestinian territories were discussed.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office received by Baghdad Today, the attendees condemned “the ongoing Zionist attack in the occupied territories and the direct targeting of civilians, and the brutal siege implemented by the occupation authorities on the Gaza Strip, and its cause of exacerbation of the humanitarian conditions of the Palestinians, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities and work to stop the violations that are committed.” practiced against the Palestinians.”
The attendees appreciated "the Iraqi governmental, popular and parliamentary positions, most notably the position of the supreme religious authority in Najaf," calling for "the continuation of popular and national demonstrations and activities in support of the Palestinian cause."
The framework leaders also expressed their "thank you to the Iraqi government for its courageous stance in defending the Palestinian people, stressing the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts with the countries of the world in order to protect the Palestinian people."
The attendees called on "the House of Representatives to adopt a draft resolution and a unified position towards these violations."
It is noteworthy that as the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation - which was launched by the Palestinian resistance and led to the killing of 1,300 Israelis - enters its eighth day, the violent Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip continues, leaving more than 2,215 martyrs and 8,714 injured, while the resistance responded by targeting Israeli towns with missiles.
Officially and popularly, Iraq expressed its rejection of the Israeli aggression on Gaza and began collecting donations and aid and sending them to the Palestinians through coordination with Egypt. The capital, Baghdad, also witnessed massive popular demonstrations in support of the Palestinian resistance.
