Baghdad is hosting today, Wednesday, an emergency session of the Arab Parliament Union to support the Palestinian people, which came at the invitation of the Palestinian National Council due to the difficult humanitarian conditions that Gaza is suffering from and the Zionist aggression that requires the Arabs to have a say and a position regarding it.
The head of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fattouh, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: In contact with the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, we asked to hold an emergency session of the Arab Parliament Union in order to assess the situation and the war in Palestine. Al-Halbousi’s response was very quick and he sent an invitation to all Arab parliaments to hold a meeting. An emergency session, expressing his hope that all Arab brothers will participate and that no country will be absent from attendance.
Fattouh pointed out that the meeting will issue a comprehensive Arab position and a statement expressing the position of the Arab nation alongside the struggle of the Palestinian people, in addition to the position of the Arab Union and a plan of action at the level of the International Parliament among parliaments in the world in order to mobilize support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in confronting the Israeli aggression in every situation. Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip.
In this context, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, received the First Vice-President of the UAE Federal National Council (Hamad Al-Rahoumi), to participate in the work of the thirty-fifth emergency conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.
In a statement, Al-Mandalawi renewed Iraq’s firm and supportive position on the Palestinian issue, and the need for the Arab countries participating in the conference to have a unified and unified position to condemn the barbaric operations and brutal practices of the Zionist entity against defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip, and to reject attempts to displace people from their homes and land under any pretext or title.
The First Deputy discussed with his Emirati counterpart the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the role that Arab countries must play in breaking the siege, stopping the aggression, and providing urgent aid to the Palestinians.
