The Ministry of Electricity announced, on Thursday, the completion of new power transmission lines in preparation for the winter season, confirming that power supply is almost complete throughout Iraq.
The Ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, said in an interview with the official news agency, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the Ministry held several meetings headed by the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Fadel, where there were directives to prepare for peak winter loads that require some periodic and emergency maintenance of the obstetric units, and that Production plants will be ready to operate at maximum capacity after peak winter loads as well .”
Moussa added, “There are procedures for thermal inspection, as well as chemical washing of the lines and stations, in addition to an examination of the condition of the insulators, circuit breakers, and the necessary frequencies in the lines to the circuit breakers at the level of transmission lines,” noting, “There are new energy transmission lines that we want to bring into operation.” We completed the necessary checks for them, and fixed and mobile stations were installed in the burden centers .”
Regarding the distribution sector, Moussa explained, “There are comprehensive plans for the distribution sector that use changing the distribution networks and feeder routes to complete the network’s deficiencies, address bottlenecks, and study them by creating feeders. All of this work is underway so that the plan will be ready with the peak of winter loads. ”
He pointed out that "the electrical power supply is almost complete in Baghdad and all governorates of Iraq, except that some areas suffer from partial outages as a result of the work of inspecting the transmission lines and stations in order to bring them into operation and connect them to the network, which requires partial outages to connect these new lines and stations to the network. "
