    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Tuesday (November 21, 2023), Member of Parliament Baqir Al-Saadi revealed three reasons that prompted Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to reject the resignation of the three ministers from the government, while indicating that the Prime Minister respects the decisions of the Federal Court.
Al-Saadi explained in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the current government was formed from multiple political forces and was voted on in the House of Representatives, and it is running a government program with the aim of addressing serious accumulations in multiple dimensions, including service, security, and economic, and therefore any political crisis, whatever it may be, constitutes “A challenge that must be contained in a way that supports its continued performance of its duties.”
He added, "Al-Sudani rejected the ministers' resignation for important reasons, most notably that their decision was a reaction to the Federal Court's decision to terminate the membership of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, even though the decision is legal and there is no political interference in it, and the judiciary is independent, in addition to the fact that the ministers constitute an important part of the structure of the ministerial cabinet and their absence." "It does not serve the public interest. In addition, the Sudanese have decided to deal wisely with any political crises because the country's situation cannot bear more problems."
Al-Saadi pointed out that “Al-Sudani respects the decisions of the Federal Court as they are valid and cannot be violated, stressing that his last meeting with Al-Halbousi was to confirm his government’s point of view regarding the decisions of the judiciary as an independent and respected authority.”
He continued, "The Sudanese dealt with the political developments directly, and he believes that the situation in Iraq cannot bear any political crises and the importance of unity of positions in supporting stability and moving forward with the implementation of the government program in light of a series of economic challenges and service accumulations extending over many years."
Yesterday, Monday (November 20, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani rejected the resignation of three of his government ministers, while the government spokesman announced that the three ministers would resume their executive duties.
Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi said in a statement received by Baghdad Al-Youm, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani rejected the resignations submitted by the Ministers of Planning, Industry and Culture, and they will resume their executive work in the service of our beloved people.”
He pointed out that "the rejection came as an affirmation of the government's approach to ensuring political representation for all people, with their components and political forces, and in harmony with the government's commitments to support and continue political stability, in a way that does not affect societal cohesion, and provides a stable atmosphere that contributes to the implementation of the government's program aimed at advancing... Wheel of construction and development.
On November 14, 2023, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, as well as the Ministers of Industry, Minerals, Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, submitted written resignations to the Prime Minister, against the backdrop of the Federal Court’s decision to terminate Muhammad al-Halbousi’s membership in Parliament.
