An informed political source revealed on Monday the names of the candidates nominated to assume the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives in place of the President whose membership was terminated by order of the Federal Court, Muhammad al-Halbousi.[/size]
[size=45]The source informed that the names of candidates for the Presidency of Parliament that the coordination framework officially received from the Sunni forces are (Salem Matar Al-Issawi, Shaalan Al-Karim, Abdul Karim Abtan, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani).[/size]
[size=45]Earlier on Monday, the Leadership Alliance handed over the names of its candidates to assume the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.[/size]
[size=45]A brief statement by the Coordination Framework stated, “The Secretary-General of the Coordination Framework, Abbas Al-Amiri, announces that he has received the names of candidates for the Presidency of Parliament from the Leadership Alliance.”[/size]
[size=45]The leadership coalition includes Sovereignty, headed by Khamis Al-Khanjar, and the Taqaddum Party, former Speaker of the House of Representatives.[/size]
[size=45]On Tuesday, November 14, the Federal Supreme Court, “the highest judicial authority in Iraq,” announced the termination of the membership of the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, against the backdrop of a lawsuit filed against him by Representative Laith Al-Dulaimi, in which he accused him of forging his (Al-Dulaimi’s) resignation from membership in the House of Representatives. As a result, the Federal Court ruled to terminate their membership (Al-Halbousi and Al-Dulaimi).[/size]
