Baghdad: Muhammad Al-Ansari
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said: The government is continuing with the approach of reconstruction, construction and improving infrastructure, pointing out that it is not reviewing the file.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office said yesterday, Wednesday, that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani launched work on a new multi-lane bridge project on the Tigris River in the Jadriya area, linking the two banks of the river, and the expansion of Abu Nawas Road, within the first package of projects to relieve traffic congestion.” Which was approved for the capital, Baghdad.
Al-Sudani said in his speech during the launch of the bridge project: “The projects were not implemented in an easy way, as the government faces many challenges,” stressing that “there are those who are trying to keep us busy with this or that file, but they face a solid will and determination to continue with this work methodology and will never back down from that.” ".
He added, "No force can stop the wheel of reconstruction and construction that has begun under any circumstances," pledging "to continue building and giving in continuation of the path of the people who made sacrifices and a group of martyrs and wounded heroes in order for us to enjoy the security and stability that all governorates are witnessing."
He continued, "We have no choice but to work with the same determination and spirit in giving and giving in order to continue implementing these projects," noting that "working on projects is similar to the situation of fighters on the front lines who faced the terrorist ISIS. Today, the fighting is in the field and we continue with the same determination and determination."
The Prime Minister congratulated “the laying of the foundation stone for the bridge project on the Tigris River,” and explained, “Baghdad has not witnessed the construction of a bridge on the Tigris River linking Rusafa and Karkh since 1982 except for the two-story bridge,” indicating that “the capital, Baghdad, has not witnessed any practical step in The issue of relieving traffic congestion and finding available lanes for citizens to move around to do their work or reach universities and schools.”
He added, “The government, through the relevant ministry, has begun setting a priority for projects to remove bottlenecks according to a vision, analysis and study,” noting that “the completion of the projects caused double bottlenecks, but for a short time in light of the companies’ enthusiasm and speed in implementation.”
He added, “There are projects for bridges and viaducts that have been suspended for more than 10 years, but now we are in the process of opening projects within just months, and this is something that the Iraqi people are not accustomed to,” noting that “bridge and viaduct projects are receiving the attention of the government and the sectoral authorities in the rest of the governorates, where We have begun accelerating the pace of implementation of complex, lagging projects.”
He stated, “There are new projects, bridges, roads, and overpasses in important traffic nodes in city centers in the governorates from Nineveh to Basra, and they will take their course in light of the prepared plan and program, which depends, among other factors, on financial allocations and the completion of technical requirements.”
The project launched by the Prime Minister includes linking the Karrada area on the Rusafa side to Nisour Square on the Karkh side with a bridge for vehicles to pass through Wedding Island with a length of 550 metres. It also includes the construction of a bridge parallel to the river’s watercourse with a length of 2,650 metres, and the expansion of Abu Nawas Road on sections created on the ground. Or in the form of a bridge parallel to the river, and adding another bridge linking Wedding Island to Nisour Square, with a length of 850 meters.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Nabil Al-Saffar, revealed the method and duration of completion of the new Jadriya Bridge, and said: “Modern construction techniques will be used in its construction called the (mobile trolley) system, and the length of one space in the bridge is 85 meters,” indicating that “the completion period has been determined.” “About a year and a half ago, and the company implementing the project is one of the Arab companies.”
