The Najaf Investment Authority announced the launch of the trial operation of the first factory in the environmentally friendly industrial investment city (Delta).
The head of the authority, Dr. Durgham Kiko, told Al-Sabah: The factory whose trial operation has begun is for cork facades and carpentry, and it is hoped that its production will be marketed to local markets soon with the start of commercial operation.
He stated that the production will be within international standards of high quality that exceeds imported materials, explaining that the city extends over an area of 40 dunums and includes 17 factories, in addition to 13 warehouses, and its total cost of construction reaches ten million dollars. Kiko added that the city also includes administrative buildings and housing for engineers and workers, along with markets and green areas. It also contains factories for the production of aluminum, wood, cork, and various decorative materials. It is hoped that the production of these factories will be less expensive and of higher quality than the imported materials found in local markets.
He pointed out that the Authority gave great importance to industrial projects within the investment projects in the governorate. 20 investment licenses have been granted in the industrial sector so far, due to its importance in the process of economic development, providing job opportunities for the local workforce, and absorbing and reducing unemployment.
