Iraq records a slight increase in inflation rates in 2024

Yesterday, Sunday, the Iraqi Ministry of Planning announced a slight increase in inflation rates by 0.4% in the country during the first months of the current year 2024.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, explained that the inflation index is always rising and there is no decline in the world, and this rise is the result of many reasons, including the presence of a large monetary supply and high prices, indicating that the inflation that Iraq is witnessing is a logical increase. Al-Hindawi added that inflation recorded a slight increase last January of 0.4% compared to December 2023, while annual inflation from January 2023 to January 2024 witnessed an increase of the same percentage, amounting to 0.4%. He pointed out that the rise in the 12 departments that measure inflation is similar, and there are 8 departments that rose at a rate of 0.2% to 0.8%, and the health department did not witness an increase, while there were 3 departments that witnessed a decline, ranging from 0.5% to 1%.
