The Ministry of Transport is working to complete the contracting steps with Abu Dhabi Ports to operate the Grand Al Faw Port.
Director of the Ministry's Media Office, Maitham Al-Safi, told Al-Sabah: The Ministry has initiated an agreement with Abu Dhabi Ports to partner and operate Al-Faw Port, by preparing the steps to officially contract with it during the coming period.
He added that the ministry received large offers from Chinese, Emirati and Singaporean companies, but the conditions were identical to what was presented by the Abu Dhabi Ports Administration, with regard to the operation and management policy and expansion of the regional and international maritime transport market for the port and making it a global (transit) station. Al-Safi indicated that the end of this year The entire road linking the ports of Al-Faw and Umm Qasr will be clad in conjunction with the completion of the five berths project. He stated that there are ongoing meetings in coordination with the General Company for Iraqi Ports and the technical, administrative and legal committees to complete the details of the preliminary contracts with Abu Dhabi Ports to reach the best formula for operating the Grand Faw Port.
