    Hussein Falih:
The Ministry of Water Resources announced that record storage levels in dams had been reached, the first since 2019, while confirming that the results of the meetings between Iraq and Turkey regarding the water file were fruitful.
Director General of Dams at the Ministry, Ali Radi, said in an interview: Iraq wants to guarantee a fair share of water from upstream countries. Pointing out that there is a permanent committee between Iraq and Turkey regarding the water file. He added: We had a visit to Ankara and meetings took place there, and there are also many delegations of the Turkish side that came to Iraq and held meetings, where these discussions and discussions are ongoing to reach fruitful cooperation on the water file.
He pointed out: This flexibility and positivity in the water file is very important to ensure access to fair water shares. Pointing out: The government support and the clear and insightful government vision for the water file was not only achieved in this agreement, but was achieved previously in the water relationship between Iraq and Iran, for example. He continued: The water revenues that were achieved, for example, in the Karun River and the revenues that strengthened the water storage in the Dam Darbandikhan or the Diyala Dam did not come out of nowhere, but rather from good relations, dialogues and joint visits. As a result, the revenues achieved in the Shatt al-Arab through the Karun River led to a reduction in salinity rates to very large proportions. He went on to say: Now we have reached high storage rates in the Mosul Dam. We only reached it in 2019, when that year was abundant, and the situation was the same in the Darbandikhan Dam and the Dokan Dam. Now we have reached the same level of storage that was in 2019. Pointing out: When we have good water storage, this will certainly reflect positively on the upcoming summer season, in particular. Summer agricultural plan. He stated: We have reached record storage levels in the Mosul Dam, the first since 2019. He noted that agricultural plans for the summer or winter season are usually developed through high-level joint committees between the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture, which take responsibility for water storage data. The nature of this water year represents the basis for approving plans. He continued: To date, the extent of the agricultural plan for the coming season has not been made clear through the committee that will be held later. Pointing out: Today, when water storage has improved greatly, it must be developed with thoughtful plans, and made the best use of it. He explained: With the availability of storage, we are thinking about improving irrigation efficiency, using modern technologies, working on lining canals, and thinking about creating water harvesting dams and also exploiting groundwater. [/size]
