Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: Dialogues between the various political blocs regarding completing the formation of the governorate administration in Kirkuk have stopped, while there are no specific figures appointed to fill the position of the next governor. It is also not yet possible to set a new date for holding a meeting between the political blocs after the last meeting with the president. Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.
The cessation of dialogues led to the disruption of the process of forming the Kirkuk administration and appointing a new governor and head of the local council.
The Kurds have a negotiating committee in Baghdad that works with the Arab and Turkmen blocs with the aim of reaching a consensus formula that satisfies all parties, in order to form the Kirkuk administration and its council.
These current developments reflect the political challenges and tensions surrounding the process of forming local governments in disputed areas, such as Kirkuk.
Kirkuk Provincial Council member Hassan Majeed confirmed on Tuesday that the dialogues between the political blocs regarding completing the formation of the provincial administration are stalled.
Kirkuk is a disputed region characterized by ethnic and sectarian diversity that includes Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen, and other minorities, while parties compete for positions and resources to achieve their political and economic interests.
Kirkuk contains huge oil resources and other natural resources. Competing parties are interested in controlling these resources and exploiting them for their personal benefit or for the groups to which they belong.
Iraq in general is witnessing the effects of regional conflicts and tensions, and Kirkuk is no exception. Competing regional powers enter into internal conflicts and support political blocs that serve their interests in the region.
The history of Kirkuk is full of conflicts and land and identity problems. The struggle for positions is due to long years of political turmoil and ethnic and sectarian tensions, which leave a profound impact on the political dynamic in the region.
These factors interact together to escalate the struggle for positions in Kirkuk.
