    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]Today, Sunday, a member of the Basra Governorate Council, Iyad Al-Maliki, revealed new details related to the integrated Qurna sewerage project in the north of the governorate.[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Maliki said in an interview followed by Al-Eqtisad News, “The Retaining Wall Company is still working on the project and its work has not been stopped. It intends to complete the open areas where work is ongoing, but the areas it had not entered previously, the governorate office recommended not to start work there until a company is selected.” Or more in order to implement the integrated services project in the remaining areas of the district,” adding that “the names of these companies will be announced in the coming days.”[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, "The Basra Governorate Council will not accept unreliable companies implementing the project after the great suffering that the citizen experienced in the district."[/rtl]
[rtl]Last March 30, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, during his reception of a delegation of tribal sheikhs and notables from the Qurna District in Basra Governorate, directed “to replace the company lagging behind in implementing service infrastructure projects in the Qurna District with another solid company.”[/rtl]
[rtl]It is noteworthy that last March, the Qurna district in Basra Governorate witnessed massive demonstrations, the erection of sit-in tents, and the closing of the gate to the first Qurna field to demand services. It also witnessed the death of two 9-year-old children who drowned in a water hole belonging to the Qurna sewerage project, in the Al-Jumaa neighborhood.[/rtl]
