    Baghdad / Obelisk Event:
Sources indicate that the political forces in Iraq eventually reached an agreement after months of disagreements over amending the internal regulations of Parliament, with the aim of opening the door for nominations again for the position of Speaker of Parliament. This agreement is considered a victory for the Taqaddam Party and its leader, Muhammad al-Halbousi.
The political coordination framework now tends to calm down with the Sunni forces and the Kurds, since they are considered potential allies in the upcoming legislative elections. Sunni forces outside the “Taqaddum” political alliance are considered to have failed to present an acceptable candidate for the coordination framework, which enhances the chances of Al-Halbousi’s party and its potential candidate for the position.
In recent weeks, the Taqadum Party has threatened to withdraw from the political process, and Muhammad al-Halbousi is still insisting that his party obtain the share of the presidency of Parliament, while the rest of the Sunni blocs that wish to exclude him from this position refuse, given his dictatorial practices with members of his clan, according to what is being circulated. Sunni forces,
Political consultations and negotiations are continuing to achieve a comprehensive consensus on the presidency of Parliament, which is one of the main positions in the legislative authority in Iraq. It is important to note that political events and developments in Iraq may change rapidly, and this may lead to adjustments to the current status of political negotiations and consensus.
On November 14 of last year, the Federal Supreme Court - the highest judicial authority in the country - announced the termination of Al-Halbousi’s membership as deputy and speaker of Parliament.
The court's decision came against the backdrop of a lawsuit filed by Representative Laith Al-Dulaimi, in which Al-Halbousi was accused of forging his resignation from membership in the House of Representatives, which prompted the court to terminate the membership of both Al-Halbousi and Al-Dulaimi.
