The Ministry of Migration and Displacement confirmed today, Thursday, that its plan focuses on the voluntary return of displaced persons and rejecting their house arrest in camps.
The ministry’s media stated in a statement received by Mawazine News, that “Minister of Immigration and Displacement, Ivan Faiq Jabro, received the US Under Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, Ozra Zia, and her accompanying delegation, at the ministry’s headquarters in the center of the capital, Baghdad, and during the meeting, the common files between the two countries were discussed.” The two countries and ways to enhance cooperation prospects in all fields.
While "the meeting also witnessed a discussion of the mechanism for closing the camps and ensuring the return of all displaced persons to their areas of original residence in a way that preserves their dignity and ways to support the returnees in accordance with the applicable ministerial plan, according to the directives of the Prime Minister."
Jabro stressed that "the ministry's plan focuses on the voluntary return of the displaced and rejecting their house arrest in the camps."
The meeting also witnessed "a discussion of providing all requirements for a decent living for returning families and including them in income-generating projects, in addition to discussing the file of the displaced people of the Syrian Al-Hawl camp."
For her part, the US Under Secretary of State praised the government efforts to end the displacement issue, ensure the safe return of families, and provide all requirements for a decent living for all returnees.
