Revealed Electricity province of Karbala distribution circuit, on Saturday, all stopped ten projects stations for transmission and distribution of energy due to the financial crisis, and warned of a "significant" problems in the electricity sector during the next summer, and while confirming the loss of 30-40% of the energy in the province, demanded the dissolution of radical to the problem of overtaking on the electric grid.
The director of the Electricity Department Jaber al-Tai said in an interview to the (long-Presse), said that "the most prominent of the electricity sector projects which were interrupted in Karbala because of the financial crisis, is the transfer stations projects and cost up to 24 billion dinars, within the development of the regions local government allocations," noting "The four of these stations mobile and fixed four, with plans to create in different parts of the city and Aqditha center and its environs."
He said al-Tai, the "ministerial projects stalled, two stations Abrahamic projects and new Karbala for the transfer of which are among the sources of the main energy to maintain power transmission, it has also been stopped because of lack of funds," warning of "major problems facing the province during next summer in the absence of complete plants transport and energy conversion in Karbala, the fact that these stations solve bottlenecks in the electricity distribution problems. "
He said al-Tai, that "Aldhaiat in the electric power in the province, ranging from 3040% because of the abuse on the electric grid in the slum areas," stressing the need to "find the central and local governments have a radical solution to end the problem of slums to end abuses on the electrical grid."
He said al-Tai, that "about 95% of the need of Karbala electricity distribution networks completed in recent years, including most areas of the province, but there are still neighborhoods in the province need to have the delivery of the electric grid."
Iraq has suffered a shortage of electricity since the beginning of the year 1990, but the past three years have seen an improvement in the provision of electric power after the opening of a number of power stations which (Zubaydiah in Wasit and good deeds in Karbala and Alhaidariya in Najaf and the station gas in Maysan and two stations in Diwaniya and station al-Sadr in Baghdad , and the Shatt al-Arab stations and Rumaila in Basra and Kirkuk in the gas station), where the hours of operation to continue for about 20 hours with a special low temperatures with shrinking operating hours with high temperatures and increased loads on the power plants during peak times.
Despite the achievement of energy production in Iraq about 12 thousand megawatts, but it is still below the level of ambition and the need, which amounts to more than 20 thousand MW to all parts of Iraq, which needs a huge investment to reach self-sufficiency.
