Turkish Defense Minister, Fikri Aishq, said Friday that his country would continue talks with the Iraqi government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government in Arbil, about the presence of Turkish troops in the camp [Ba'shiqah] northern city of Mosul.
He Aishq in a press statement after visiting the company [Hauelssan] Turkish e-Air Industries said his country was "ready for any eventuality," noting that the visit of the President of the Turkish General Staff Hulusi Acar and the leaders of the army to the Iraqi border on Thursday "should be evaluated in this context."
He added that his meeting with Iraq's ambassador to Turkey Hisham Al Alawi on Thursday was in a "positive atmosphere" stressing that Turkey respect for Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He said that the reason for the presence of Turkish troops in Iraq is a "local elements trained" to fight [Daesh] and "prevent" terrorist "threats that pose a threat to Turkey from the region.
And welcomed Turkey's defense minister that exists between the components of the population of Tal Afar predominantly Turkmen west of Mosul to form a strong local force thousands of fighters to defend their homeland cooperation "expressed satisfaction" of his country and the happiness of the cooperation between the Turkmen in Iraq's Sunnis and Shiites. "
Turkey sent military reinforcements in recent times to different areas on the borders with Iraq and Syria in a bid "to ensure its security from attacks and terrorist organizations and to prepare for any emergency."
Relations between Ankara and Baghdad tense after the Iraqi parliament's decision considered the presence of Turkish troops in Ba'shiqah camp north of the country, "a hostile occupying forces" following the Turkish parliament's approval early October last to extend the mandate of a government resolution to authorize Turkish troops launched military operations in Syria and Iraq for a year.
