Three people were killed by unidentified gunfire in the northeastern state of Maine, the Associated Press reported.
According to the agency, the incident took place on a street in the city of Madison, where security men on arrival at the scene of the fire, after receiving a notification, the bodies of three people. The culprit then disappeared but returned to the scene of his crime after a certain time and shot again, injuring another person. Police shot and killed the gunman.
Media quoted witnesses who knew the victims of the attack, including a woman who was on the way to the house of a friend, and a man who was helping her.
Security services began investigating the incident. Police have not yet identified the culprit and his motives remain unknown.
