The New York Times reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump is seeking to amend the university admissions system in various US states to become "less discriminating" against white Americans.
The Trump administration is preparing to reorient the Civil Rights Department of the Department of Justice to investigate universities for its student admission system. Trump's administration considers the university admission system to discriminate against whites, according to a document obtained by the Civil Rights Department of the ministry.
The document does not explicitly identify who they consider to be victims of racial discrimination, but the paper expects to be biased towards white-skinned individuals.
Opinions were mixed between supporters and opponents of the Trump project. Opponents said the project clearly targeted admissions programs for outstanding black and Latin students. According to the current rules, they are entitled to university places before whites if they are academically and physically superior.
The project is another sign that the US Department of Justice's Department of Civil Rights has adopted a conservative and right-wing approach, as in the Trump administration.
The newspaper also expressed fears that this trend is dominated by other sectors and reforms of the Civil Rights Department, from American institutions and civil rights, such as voting rights and rights of homosexuals, and police reform and acceptance system.
