The Central Bank of Iraq denied on Monday the issuance of lists to prosecute Iraqi banks.
The spokesman of the Central Bank of Iraq in the name of Abdul Hadi Hassan in a statement seen by the network Roudao media, "some local media have circulated during the past two days news on the issuance of lists to monitor Iraqi banks, claiming that these banks may be subject to sanctions from outside parties in an attempt to create confusion in the market Exchange rate ".
"While the bank denies this news, it confirms that it is the supervisory body responsible for following up the activities and activities of the financial and banking institutions in the country and that it is subject to its control and instructions issued by it."
Several local media outlets have been circulating reports of Iraqi banks monitoring lists linked to suspicious financial transfers to Iran under strict US sanctions.
