Political analyst Sajjad Jayyad said that Prime Minister-designate [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/17227/%D8%B9%D8%A7%D8%AF%D9%84 %D8%B9%D8%A8%D8%AF %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D9%87%D8%AF%D9%8A]Adel Abdul-Mahdi[/url] will face a large parliamentary opposition in the implementation of his government program.
"Abdul Mahdi has vowed to make reforms, but this may not be the desired goal for the competing alliances that have cooperated for his candidacy," said Jayad, an analyst at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
"Most parties will be opposed to the reforms sought by Abdul Mahdi, such as reducing spending and freezing the increase in the number of employees in the government departments and members of the security forces and working with international organizations to attract foreign investment," he said.
"The country's next budget will be the first test of Adel Abdul Mahdi," he said. "Any well-balanced budget that does not meet the interests of the parliament, which is made up of dozens of parties, can not pass."
