[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / - The Central Statistical Organization of the Ministry of Planning announced today, Saturday, the number of employees in state institutions.
A report issued by the Human Development Statistics Department of the Agency stated that "the total number of employees in the ministries and state institutions reached one million and 32 thousand and 599 employees," noting that "the highest number of men was in the ministries of interior, where their number reached 556 thousand and 773 employees, and oil 125 There are 1,244 employees, and Higher Education has 57,034 employees, while the number of women is higher in the Ministries of Education 41,366 employees, and the Ministry of Finance 16,923 employees.
The report, titled (The Reality of Gender in Iraq’s Ministries and State Institutions 2020), added that “the educational attainment of men is more than that of women. Although there are programs and strategies to eradicate illiteracy, there are some ministries that still have a number of employees who do not know how to read.” The number of (men) employees reached 6341, at a rate of 83.4%, and (women) 1263 employees, at a rate of 16%, and the Ministries of Transport and Interior were the highest in the number of illiterate employees. While there was a great discrepancy between women and men at the level of ministries and entities not affiliated with a Ministry of Postgraduate Studies (higher diploma, master’s, doctorate), where the number of men reached 34,945, and the number of women was 18,516, and the proportion of men was 65.4% of the total employees who obtained a degree. Postgraduate studies and the percentage of women is 34.6%.
The report emphasized that “national mechanisms face many challenges in integrating a gender perspective in government institutions, policies and legislation, including weak political will, lack of knowledge of gender issues in government institutions, continuous change of gender owners, weak experiences and competencies, weak accountability and control mechanisms, poor funding and difficulty in obtaining data. Statistics disaggregated by sex and the difficulty of preparing budgets that take into account gender issues.”/ End 8[/rtl]
