This came during his chairmanship today of a meeting that included the Association of Drug Producers in Iraq, in the presence of the Ministers of Health and Industry, a number of general managers in the two ministries, and a number of advisors, according to what the Sudanese media office announced.

The statement stated that the meeting witnessed a discussion of the reality of drug policy in Iraq, ways to develop the pharmaceutical industry and address the obstacles to its settlement in Iraq.
The statement quoted Al-Sudani as confirming that the government has placed the health file among the priorities of the ministerial curriculum, especially with regard to the pharmaceutical aspect, which needs more reorganization in the field of random drug imports, to achieve integrated drug security.
The Prime Minister referred to the pharmaceutical industry, which is one of the engines of the economy, and contributes to providing job opportunities, and the need to localize and develop it in light of a serious government approach to economic reform, stressing that the pharmaceutical market in Iraq spends about three billion dollars annually to import medicines, and most of them are not subject to examination. While Iraq produces only 10% of it.
He noted the ability of the private sector to contribute to the pharmaceutical industry, with the participation of international companies, referring to the Samarra Pharmaceutical Factory, which is a bright name in the pharmaceutical industry.
