    The Ministry of Electricity confirmed the move towards electronic payment to pay electricity wages by citizens after the Cabinet's decision supporting electronic payment.
    The Ministry of Electricity said in a press statement, “The Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadel, chaired a meeting that included the Baghdad Electricity Distribution Department, the Sadr Electricity Distribution Branch, the Economic Department, and the director of the minister’s office, on energy sales, their costs, and the mechanisms that are being worked on, in addition to discussing several axes and proposals for the light.” Sober, real and effective measures to collect wasted energies.
    The statement added, "The government's approach in general calls on everyone to maximize collection resources and limit losses and abuses," calling on "ministries with high spending to pressure operating expenses that burden the state's general budget."
    The minister instructed, according to the statement, to "categorize the high loads by consumption and separate them from the rest of the uses in an attempt to ration their consumption and study their loads," stressing "the continuation of issuing electricity wage lists to avoid losing the costs of the supplied energy."
    He pointed out that "the ministry is determined to proceed with the steps of electronic transformation and the smart grid in accordance with the directives and authorization of the Council of Ministers to the ministry," directing that "there will be deterrent measures against those who manipulate meter reading and those who neglect the loss of energy costs, which are government efforts for your colleagues, our heroic angels."
    And the statement continued, "These wages are public money through which it secures the purchase of the governing materials to maintain the electrical network, complete projects, rehabilitate networks, and others."
