Member of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Baldawi, revealed the contents of the consensus decision on the governors’ file by the framework forces, while he expected that there would be “specific exceptions.”
Al-Baldawi said in a press interview followed by (Al-Mada) that “the framework forces support the formation of local governments at a faster pace in order for them to integrate with the federal government in implementing its programs related to services,” indicating that “the framework forces in general support change, but there may be exceptions.”
He added, “Change is important, especially since the governorates have not witnessed any elections since 2013, and most of the governors have been in their positions for many years, and change carries with it many positives that prompt a change in plans,” pointing out that “the decision remains with the framework forces and the results of their negotiations to form Local governments.”
He pointed out that “the change of governors may be comprehensive, or specific exceptions may occur, but the matter is too early to decide, and we are awaiting the approval of the results and the start of the dialogues that will resolve all options, especially for the framework forces.”
On Wednesday (December 20, 2023), the coordination framework announced the formation of a “framework bloc” in all governorates to accelerate the formation of local councils to provide services in continuation and completion of the efforts of the federal government that distinguished it throughout the past year.
In its subsequent meetings, political sources close to the framework reported that “there are discussions about the possibility of retaining some of the current governors after evaluating them.”
