Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani considered, today, Thursday, the end of the international coalition’s tasks as a necessity for the stability of the security situation in Iraq, pointing out that Iraq wants to “immediately begin” ending the file of the coalition’s presence.

Al-Sudani said in a dialogue session within the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland, “The Iraqi government and people respect the international position that contributed to defeating ISIS,” stressing that “the justifications for the presence of the international coalition in Iraq ended after defeating ISIS.”

Al-Sudani added, "We have begun to implement our commitment by holding a dialogue with the international coalition to end its presence in Iraq," adding, "We want to immediately begin ending the mission of the international coalition in Iraq, and the end of the international coalition's mission is necessary for the security of Iraq."

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani arrived on Monday (January 15, 2024) in Switzerland to participate in the 54th edition of the Davos Economic Forum.

The Davos Forum will be held this year under the slogan “Rebuilding Confidence,” and will discuss several political issues, most notably the war on Gaza, and economic, climate, and health issues that constitute major challenges facing the world today.
