The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the American strikes on Syria and Iraq, and called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, while Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the American military attacks on areas in Iraq and Syria. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said: “The American air strikes on the lands of Iraq and Syria are a complete disregard by Washington for the standards of international law.” She added: “Britain’s participation should not deceive the United States in these strikes that they have formed an “international alliance,” as is customary in defining their alliances. She continued: “We strongly condemn the aggression.” The last American-British agreement on two independent countries, and we seek to discuss this situation urgently in the UN Security Council.” She pointed out that the air strikes are aimed primarily at fueling conflict in the region. She said: “The United States claims that it is attacking groups that claim to be loyal to Iran in Iraq and Syria, but they In fact, it is trying to plunge the largest countries in the region into conflicts.” Zakharova stressed that “the attempts to flex muscles in the region aim to influence the American internal political situation, and reflect the desire to correct the failed path of the current American administration in some way on the international arena.”
She added: “The United States is not looking for solutions to problems in the region. Washington has always been satisfied with the escalation of tension in the Middle East.”
The UN Security Council meeting regarding the US strikes on Syria and Iraq is expected to be held at 00.00 Moscow time on Tuesday.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned, yesterday, Saturday, the American military attacks on areas in Iraq and Syria. The Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported that Kanaani considered, in a statement, the aforementioned attacks a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq and Syria and international law and a blatant violation. According to the United Nations Charter, he said, “In addition to America’s full support for the brutal attacks launched by the Zionist entity against the residents of Gaza and the West Bank 4 months ago, as well as the military attacks on Yemen and the violation of this country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, last night’s attack on Syria and Iraq is an adventure and a mistake.” Another strategy on the part of the American government, which will have no result other than exacerbating tension and instability in the region.” Kanaani considered the American military attacks on Iraq, Syria and Yemen merely to meet the goals of the Zionist entity, noting that “such attacks make the American government more preoccupied in the region than "At any time, it sheds light on the crimes of the Zionist entity in Gaza." The Foreign Ministry spokesman renewed the warning of the danger of the expanding dimensions and geography of war and conflicts in the region, and said, "The continuation of such adventures constitutes a threat to regional and international peace and security, and the Islamic Republic of Iran once again affirms that It is the responsibility of the international community and the United Nations Security Council to prevent illegal and unilateral American attacks in the region and prevent the expansion of the scope of the crisis.” He added, “As the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly stated, the roots of the tension and crisis in the region go back to the Israeli occupation and the continuation of its military operations.” This entity in Gaza and the genocide against the Palestinians with unlimited support from America, and the return of stability and security to the region is only possible with a focus on the roots of the crisis and its solution.”[/size]
