    Criticized the Committee on Agriculture and marshes parliamentary, on Friday, the absence of government measures to combat the phenomenon of desertification in Iraq, as revealed more than 70% is the percentage of drought in central and southern governorates, it pointed out that the wrong policies pursued by Iran and Turkey to cut off water to Iraq raised the risk of increasing rates desertification in Iraq.
    The committee member said Mohamed Chihod "long", "so far the federal government has not taken any measures to reduce the phenomenon of desertification in the country , " noting that "there is no the government has no real vision to reduce desertification through years ago."
    Chihod added that " the phenomenon of desertification in Iraq is an important phenomenon and must be addressed , indicating that this phenomenon has negative effects on the economic, health and environmental reality."
    Chihod explained that "the Marshlands Committee and the Parliamentary Water expects the federal government to have a significant role in the next phase to address desertification in the country."
    He pointed out that "addressing desertification is not temporary and time is an issue , but the issue of government action."
    To that , the Deputy Director of the environmental disaster in the Ministry of Health and Environment Kazem al - Lami "long", he said that " the proportion of desertification in Iraq reached 70 in the central and southern provinces."
    Lami and that " the provinces affected by desertification is the province of Baghdad, Anbar, Diyala, Ninawa, Salah al - Din, Wasit, Najaf, Karbala, Basra , Dhi Qar, Muthanna, Diwaniyah, Babil and Maysan."
    Lami noted that " the wrong policies pursued by Iran and Turkey to cut off water on Iraq raised rates of desertification in the southern and central provinces."
    He said Associate Director of the environmental disaster in the Ministry of Health "can not deal with desertification but through the provision of water and planting thousands of abundant evergreen trees to repel sand dunes."
    In turn , he confirmed the Director of the Division of geographical data in the Ministry of Agriculture Ibrahim vegetative "long", said that "there is a new technology to combat desertification in the territory of central and southern Iraq in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Organization."
    Vegetative and that "the Ministry of Agriculture and the fight against desertification and mechanisms developed and plans to address desertification , " adding that " the ministry awaiting formal approval by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers for approval of the financial allocations exchange."
    Vegetative said that " the fight against desertification in Iraq need 5 billion dinars to stabilize sand dunes and digging wells in the provinces experiencing an increase in desertification, but the financial situation through which the government behind the delay in the disbursement of funds directly to the project to combat desertification."
    Recommended by researchers and academics, Thursday December 2014 18 should not be bulldozed agricultural land and labor belt green around the cities and educate citizens in order to reduce the phenomenon of desertification, and noted that the research centers Iraqi universities sent fifty research on this phenomenon and ways to address them, as described Babil Provincial Council desertification as "cancer", confirmed the allocation of two billion dinars in order to eliminate this "scourge".
    It is noteworthy that Iraq is suffering greatly from the phenomenon of desertification and dust storms , which requires a firm stance from the central government to prevent razing of agricultural land and work on the establishment of forest greens and belts around cities.
