    The government of Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Sunday it had succeeded in reducing the nation's reliance on oil revenues to 85 percent after it was 95 percent in the time of the previous government headed by Nuri al-Maliki.

    Saad al-Hadithi spokesman for the press office of the slaves in a press statement, told the twilight News, "The oil imports accounted for 95% of the total imports of the general budget of the country when the current government takes over its responsibilities."

    He added that "the government has succeeded in reducing the dependence on oil imports and reduce its proportion in the public budget to about 85 percent against the diversification of state resources and activate the role of many sectors in Iraq's budget and work is under way to make further progress in this path."  

    He pointed out that "the government and the result of the financial crisis in Iraq due to the collapse of oil prices in world markets and decline to unprecedented levels, has been forced to follow the economic policies imposed by the crisis to meet the financial obligations of the government towards Iraqi forces and the requirements of the war on terrorism as well as about seven million citizens receive salaries Monthly expenses of the State and an amount exceeding four trillion dinars per month in addition to other financial obligations of the government to farmers and contractors, and spending on important sectors such as education, health, electric power and basic services As well as the humanitarian response to the IDP file. "

    "The government has resorted to austerity, rationalization of government spending and pressure on public expenditure of the country and succeeded in reducing the levels of public spending to between 50 and 60 percent."
