Hurricane Erma will weaken into a tropical storm over northern Florida and southern Georgia on Monday, the US National Hurricane Center said.
The hurricane, the second class, was 80 kilometers per hour in Florida and had a maximum wind speed of 155 kilometers per hour, the center said.
Local electricity companies said hurricane Erma caused power cuts to more than 3 million homes and businesses in Florida on Sunday and continues to threaten millions more as it moves towards the state's west coast.
The companies said the full recovery of electricity could take weeks.
The powerful hurricane fell to the second degree, on a 5-degree ascending ladder, after entering the US mainland on the west coast of Florida on Sunday afternoon, the US Meteorological Agency said.
The meteorological agency said in its latest report on Erma that the eye of the typhoon is currently located about 10 km north of the city of Niblz coastal, and that Erma is heading north at 22 km / h, warning that the winds associated with the hurricane are still dangerous, and speed of 175 Km / hour.
She also said she expected "dangerous flooding"
